OMEN by HP 2018-19

Working as a design lead for a challenger brand like OMEN by HP, my objective is to not only improve and accept the constantly changing creative process, but also to actively fuel our team to engage in innovative thinking. The more devotion and assistance we offer for its development, the more improvements we create throughout.

Play better than yesterday

This year's key experience modifications were a shift in design direction from product focus to celebrating the competitive gaming community. For example, give our highly competent eSports athletes greater credit for utilizing cutting-edge technology to continue to excel at what they do. We strive to show customers how to use our products in exciting, appealing ways that feel out of the ordinary, in places that are mysterious but aspirational and fresh.

Greatness is in everyone, everywhere.

On the other hand, athletes and our products should be given equal attention; they should seem styled and centered, and they should remind the audience that they are technical in the same way that high-end athletic equipment is. By adopting a lighter in tone, current streetwear look, we must position them as experts in one of the fastest growing lifestyles. Technical to help pros with their game, just the way OMEN does.

Play. Bigger.

OMEN, a 65-inch TV/monitor with an award-winning Soundbar, has a brand-new product release. We divided the project into two phases: a speedy turnaround for the CES announcement and a comprehensive version for worldwide launch. It is advantageous to become involved in marketing decisions at an early stage. We can plan the timeline, prioritize the design materials, and deliver a complete experience in every way.

Technology to play at your best

In addition, we oversaw, reviewed, and provided UX input for OMEN Command Center, a platform committed to making the gaming experience better for everyone, from software/hardware inclusion to gaming gear modifications.

The overall goal is to make the application accessible and intuitive without additional instruction; this requires a clear strategy of user testing and rounds of refinement involving developers from multiple teams. Plans include a user scenario, user flow task design, and a survey based on the results of the testing.

Reinvent to stay fresh, to stay in the game

Another cross-functional effort is to collaborate with an agency to create the 2019 brand guidelines – a thorough reference to the OMEN Brand that includes every detail from logos, typography, colors, and imagery to a full communications toolkit. As a reference cookbook for future communication, include a new brand archetype, tone, and sample use cases.
