RQ Running App

RunningQuotient is a runner’s analysis app that takes part in both a mobile app and a smartwatch. The smartwatch sends back run data whereas the mobile app is designed for marathoners to get detailed analysis of their training. The design of the app is to boost the user experience while making it accessible for both professional racers and casual runners.

Role: UX Director / UI Designer

Scope of Work

Our objective was to look for chances to strategically improve the experience from a visual and user interface standpoint. We suggested doing a few interviews with our most engaged top-tier users because of the time and financial constraints. Afterward, concentrate on modifying UI elements and pages based on their suggestive feedback.

Navigation

The navigation needed to be updated and cleaned up as a first step. Our team concentrated on giving users access to five essential features, with the prominent button “run tracker” at the heart of the user interface. Additionally, the remaining features have been rearranged and split into two categories: user-related and utilities, which are kept in two slider menus underneath each of the top buttons.

Running Tracker

Boosted the hierarchy by adding color contrast and increasing the font size. Primary information such as route path, remaining distance, and time to completion were highlighted in an effort to make the information more pertinent.

Splash & Welcome Screen

What’s more, we highly recommended to create splash and welcome pages to set an initial mood for the in-app experience. This robust experience will alleviate app abandonment while giving new users a better experience.

Statistics Infographic

The current design was functional, but lacked engaging characteristics and visual elements to entice the user for additional engagement. The team overhauled the visuals and increased the spacing between content groups.

More UI Components

Generally speaking, the key goals of our strategies were to make each part distinct and widget-like. In terms of color, we just utilized the primary key color to draw attention to the number and noteworthy details.

Summary

Efforts were made to effectively handle the large data sets that were available in the app. The challenge for our design team was to present the data in a way that was both usable and visually appealing. Therefore, we put considerable time into creating infographics and charts to help bring the statistical data to life.
